3M 1322-12MM Comply Lead Free Steam Indicator Tape
An exposure monitor that securely seals packs, and provides a visual assurance that the package has been exposed to the steam sterilization process. As an exposure monitor, 3M Comply Indicator tapes securely seal packs and enables CSSD and OR personnel to know at a glance that the packs have been exposed to the sterilization process. The chemical indicator ink, printed in a diagonal striped pattern, changes color or turns darker when exposed to the sterilization process.

3M 1322-12MM Comply Lead Free Steam Indicator Tape Indications for Use
The 3M Comply lead free process indicators for steam, including 3M Comply 1322 lead free steam indicator tape, are designed for use by a health care provider to accompany individual units (e.g. wrapped packs) to demonstrate that the unit has been exposed to the sterilization process and to distinguish between processed and unprocessed units. Use the 3M Comply 1322 lead free steam indicator tape in validated 250℉/121℃, 270℉/132℃, 273℉/134℃, and 275℉/135℃ steam sterilization processes. Use the lead free steam indicator tape to demonstrate that packs have been exposed to the sterilization process. The tape is designed to secure packs wrapped with untreated woven and disposable non-woven, paper and paper/plastic wraps.
3M 1322-12MM Comply Lead Free Steam Indicator Tape Directions for Use
- Remove the plastic packaging and install the tape roll in a compatible tape dispenser.
- Unwind a section of indicator tape long enough to secure the pack.
- Place one end of the indicator tape on the package and apply finger pressure across the length of the tape to secure the pack. DO NOT STRETCH THE TAPE ACROSS THE PACK AS IT MAY CAUSE BUNDLE POPPING.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 if the method of pack wrapping or pack size requires two strips of indicator tape.
- After steam sterilization, the chemical indicator lines will show a visual color change from off-white/tan to dark-brown/black.
- When the pack is ready for use, open by tearing the tape at the packs point of opening (at the point of the fold flap). Do not remove tape from wraps in the operating room to guard against linting.
- Remove tape section from reusable woven wraps prior to laundry to prevent gumming that can occur during laundry procedures. When applying tape to reusable woven wraps, it is recommended to fold over an end of each strip of tape to create a tab to facilitate easy removal before laundering.
