What Is a Keith Needle?
A Keith needle, also known as a suture needle or stitch needle, is a specific kind of medical needle that is used for closing up and stitching together wounds in the skin, especially in areas around the abdomen.
Keith needles are a vital part of the process of stitching or suturing a wound and have been used for many years. They're very small needles and can arrive either loose and on their own or pre-attached to a specific length of suture thread, ready to be used right out of the packaging.
Keith needles are vital for helping to stitch up patients after surgery or if they have suffered from wounds and injuries resulting in tearing or open holes in the skin. By stitching up these wounds with a Keith needle, doctors can prevent blood loss, reduce the risk of wound infection, and speed up the body’s natural recovery process.

How Does a Keith Needle Work?
Keith needles are used for surgical sutures. First, if they haven't already been attached to a piece of thread, some thread will need to be selected and connected to the Keith needle. Once the thread is ready and the stitching site has been identified, the Keith needle can be guided through the skin on each side of the wound, pulling the thread through behind it in order to stitch the wound together. Depending on the situation, different types and sizes of Keith needle may be used, and different varieties of stitching thread may also be selected.
Keith Needle Sizes
Keith needles tend to be quite small, but can vary in size. Some are just 1.5" in length, while others may be over 3.5" in total. Larger Keith needles are usually used for stitching up bigger wounds.
Keith Needle Types
There are various types of Keith needles used by doctors and surgeons around the world. We can divide them into straight and curved varieties, for example. As the names imply, straight Keith needles have a fixed, straight shape from one end to the other, while curved Keith needles are curved, forming a crescent or semi-circular shape.
Keith Needle Uses
The main use of Keith needles is to stitch or suture wounds after injury or surgery. These specific kinds of stitching needles are most commonly used for abdominal injuries or surgeries, but may be used in other parts of the body, depending on the preference and discretion of the surgeon. They are used to guide suture materials into position and pull skin together.
