What Is a Retractable Syringe?
A retractable syringe, as the name implies, is one that allows the needle to be retracted after it has been used. This is an important design element and safety feature, as it reduces the risk of needle-related injuries, especially among patients who administer their own injections at home.

How Does a Retractable Syringe Work?
The way in which retractable syringes work is very similar to any other kind of syringe. They feature a plunger at one end which can be pulled up to draw in fluid and pushed out to inject the fluid via the sharp needle tip at the other end. The unique feature of these syringes is that, after use, the plunger may be pulled back to fully retract the needle. Or, if you're using an auto retractable variant, the needle will spring back up automatically after being used.

As with other types of syringes, retractable syringes are available in a wide range of sizes and are usually measured in cc or ml, referring to cubic centimeters or milliliters. Common sizes include 3ml, 5ml, and 10ml.
