How Is a Word Catheter Used?
Physicians use the Word catheter for a specific purpose as well. Women have two Bartholin glands that are located to the right and left of the labia minora. Each gland has a duct that emits the fluid supplied by the gland. If a cyst one of the ducts becomes blocked, a painful abscess can develop.
With the insertion of a Word catheter, a medical professional relieves the pressure of the abscess and creates a pathway for drainage. Word catheters have a small balloon at the end. This balloon, when filled with saline solution, holds the catheter in place until the source of the blockage, typically a microbial infection, clears up and the duct once again operates effectively.
