Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is the original alcohol-free barrier film and is intended to protect skin from body fluids, adhesives and friction. It is composed of a unique 3M terpolymer that forms a breathable, transparent protective coating on the skin. The polymer is dissolved in a solvent system that makes the product fast drying and non-sticky. It also contains a plasticizer that assists in forming a continuous film even when applied over an area that bends or creases. It is non-cytotoxic and hypoallergenic allowing use on intact or damaged skin.

What is it? Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is an alcohol-free barrier film. It contains unique ingredients called polymers that form a waterproof, protective coating on the skin. It is breathable and transparent allowing for continuous visualization and monitoring of skin. It is flexible and conforms to the skin during movement or position changes.

Indications for use:
As a primary barrier against irritation from bodily fluids and as aprotective barrier against the adhesives of wound dressings andsurgical tapes. Other uses include:
- Prevention of excoriation from urine and/or faeces forincontinent patients.
- Skin protection around stoma sites.
- Peri-wound protection from exudate damage.
- Protection under adhesive tapes/dressings.
- Protection from damage caused by friction and shear.
Warning:
Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film, in liquid form, is flammable; use inwell ventilated area. Avoid using around flames and sources ofignition. Keep out of the reach of children.
Precautions:
Allow the product to dry completely before applying pads orclothing. The application of too many layers can make the productfeel stiff. When used under cardiac monitoring electrodes readingsmay be adversely affected.
Use on Children:
Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is suitable for use on adults,children and infants over 1 month of age.
Regulatory Status:
Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film is a medical device under the termsof the European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC. This meansthe product carries a CE mark. Cat. Nos. 3343P (1ml), 3345P(3ml) and 3346P (28ml pump spray) are Class 1 sterile devices.The 28ml is supplied sterile until opened.
Application:
Skin should be clean and dry prior to application. Apply a uniform coating of film over the entire treatment area when using the foam applicator. When using the spray bottle, hold the nozzle 10 to 15cm from the skin and apply a smooth even coating over the entire treatment area, whilst moving the spray in a sweeping motion. If an area is missed, re-apply to that area only after the first application has dried (30 seconds). If applying to an area with skin folds or other skin-to-skin contact, make sure that skin contact areas are separated and allow the coating to thoroughly dry before returning to normal positions. Re-application is recommended at least every 48 to 72 hours (under normal use) or more frequently if needed.
