3M 5643 - Tegapore Wound Dressing 3x8 10x4/CS
3M Tegaderm Non-Adherent Contact Layer 5643, 3 in. x 8 in. 7,5 cm x 20 cm, 10 Dressings/ Box, 4 Boxes/ Case
Protects the wound bed while reducing pain of dressing changes.
3M Tegaderm Non-Adherent Contact Layer is a woven, nylon fabric with sealed edges that is a lint-free, non-adherent, non-toxic, non-irritating and hypoallergenic material to be used on wounds along with appropriate outer dressing. Intimate contact of the wound contact material with the wound allows the flow of exudate away from the wound helping to prevent pooling of fluids which can cause maceration of the site. Maintenance of healthy granulation tissue reduces or eliminates the need to debride. Non-adherence of this material will minimize disruption of healthy granulation tissue and reepithelialized surfaces.
- Minimizes disruption of granulating tissue
- Lessens patient pain during dressing changes and removal
- Maintains an optimal moist wound environment for healing
- Indicated for both partial and full thickness wounds
- Easily cut to size
Non-Adherent Contact Layer
Protects the wound bed while reducing pain of dressing changes. A woven, nylon fabric with sealed edges that is non-adherent, non-irritating and hypoallergenic. The wound contact material is placed over the wound and under gauze or other absorbent dressing.
3M Tegaderm Non-Adherent Contact Layer
Provides a unique concept in wound management, rapidly transferring wound exudate into an absorbent secondary dressing. Clinical studies show Tegaderm Contact Layer can be left on the wound for up to seven days.
Intended Use
Tegaderm Contact Layer is intended for use directly over wounds including partial and full thickness wounds, clean closed surgical incisions, superficial partial thickness burns, donor sites, graft fixation sites, skin tears, traumatic and chronic wounds, and dermatologic lesions. Use of this wound contact material should be part of a well-defined protocol for wound management and prevention of infection.
Suggested Applications
- Partial and full thickness wounds
- Clean closed surgical incisions
- Superficial and partial-thickness burns
- Donor sites
- Graft fixation sites
- Skin tears
- Traumatic and chronic wounds
- Dermatologic lesions
Contraindication
This product is not designed, sold, or intended for use except as indicated.
Warnings
- Tegaderm Contact Layer is intended as a primary dressing. Secure with an appropriate cover dressing to help manage the wound drainage and maintain a moist wound environment.
- The wound site should be observed frequently for signs of infection. If infection occurs (which may be signaled by fever, increased pain, redness or swelling, or an unusual odor or discharge), take standard precautions. Tegaderm Contact Layer may need to be changed more frequently in conjunction with appropriate medical intervention for infected wounds.
Precautions
- It is recommended that hemostasis be achieved before applying this material.
- Tegaderm Contact Layer should be repositioned using aseptic technique if not in contact with the entire wound bed.
- If the Tegaderm Contact Layer is difficult to remove, soak with saline and gently remove.
Application and Removal
3M Tegaderm Non-Adherent Contact Layer Commonly Asked Questions
Question: In what clinical situation would Tegaderm Contact Layer be indicated?
Answer: Tegaderm Contact Layer can be used for wounds that are painful and dressing changes that bring a great deal of discomfort. The dressing is positioned directly over the wound bed. Tegaderm Contact Layer will provide protection of the wound bed from the disruption of dressing changes. Examples of painful wounds include: skin graft donor sites, dermatologic lesions, and superficial partial thickness burns.
Questions: What type of wound fillers can be used with Tegaderm Contact Layer?
Answer: Alginate dressings such as 3M Tegaderm High Integrity Alginate Dressing or 3M Tegaderm High Gelling Alginate Dressing may be used for wounds needing an absorbent filler. 3M Tegaderm Hydrogel Wound Filler may be used to help provide a moist wound healing environment when wound bed is dry to minimally draining. Secure with an appropriate cover dressing to help manage the wound drainage and maintain a moist wound environment.
Question: How often does Tegaderm Contact Layer need to be changed?
Answer: Tegaderm Contact Layer itself may be left in place for up to seven days. The additional secondary dressings need to be changed more frequently. For example, if gauze is used as an absorbent dressing over Tegaderm Contact Layer, the gauze should be changed at least every 24 hours.
Question: Can Tegaderm Contact Layer be used with negative pressure wound therapy?
Answer: Yes, as a porous material, it may be used at the discretion of a wound care clinician. If the Tegaderm Contact Layer is difficult to remove, soak with saline and gently remove.
