How to handle a Vessel Dilator:
- Using aseptic technique, establish access to the vessel.
- Advance a guidewire into the vessel.
- Remove any components remaining over the guidewire, leaving only the guidewire in position.
- Inspect the dilator for damage before use.
- Flush the dilator lumen with sterile isotonic saline prior to use.
- Thread the vessel dilator over the guidewire and advance the dilator into the vessel. Slightly rotate the dilator as it enters the access site and enters the vessel.
- Remove the dilator leaving the guidewire in place.
