For curved suture needles, simply turn ScrubSafe upside down from its position as a scalpel transfer unit Accommodates needle holders up to eight inches long Straight suture needles may be dropped into one of the recesss in the bottom of the upturned (top) side of ScrubSafe, leaving enough thread to be grasped by the surgeon Once in the recess, no one can pick up a straight needle with a gloved hand but can safely be picked up using the thread	Pass and receive single and double-ended K-wires and pins up to 185mm long in the upper side recess	Positions needle holder loaded with the curved suture and attached suture material in the recess that is the furthest away from the surgeon Surgeon can easily grasp the vertically positioned needle holder rings Following its removal by the surgeon, the next curved suture and holder may be positioned ready in the same recess One empty recess closest to the surgeon is then available to return the used suture and holder Allows continuous and smooth placement and exchange between surgeon and scrub nurse
Upper main recess accommodates the safe transfer of skin hooks and "cats paw" retractors Retractors may be either laid downwards or laid sideways Larger rake and claw type retractors can be passed safely using the underside of ScrubSafe Positioning of claws against the outer sidewall render them safe, with handle grips easily accessible to the assistant	Underside accommodates two 20ml syringes plus their ampules Unsheathed syringes back may simply be dropped into recess	Both the upper and the back sides of ScrubSafe may be used to hand back used port trocars where the tip of the trocar is permanently exposed Center guides fingers around drill bits and trocars Drain trocars may be passed in the upper side Tissue forceps can be positioned over the outer rim of the backside for pick-up with first suture
