Glow Green Feeding Connections For Nighttime Use

MiniONE Feed Sets

AMTs MiniONE family of low profile G-Tubes, which includes the Balloon, Non-Balloon, and Capsule Non-Balloon devices, are designed to reduce leaks, improve comfort, and improve patient outcomes. These devices sit flush against the skin and can be concealed under garments easily allowing the patient a wide range of motion. All three devices within the MiniONE Family can use the same style feed sets which offer Glow Green technology!

  • Compatible with Mic-Key device
  • Non-compatible with MINI Classic Buttons

The MiniONE offers all the advantages of the MINI Classic but with more features and greater compatibility.

Attaching Feed Sets to the MiniONE Balloon Button

Always be sure to wash hands thoroughly before handling feeding devices.

Feed in an Upright Position and Remain Upright for at Least 30 Minutes After Feeding

  • Prime the tubing: Attach the feeding bag tubing to the right angle feeding set and clamp one or both tubes.
  • Fill bag with formula. Unclamp tube(s) and allow formula to fill tubes. Re-clamp tubing.
  • Connect feed set to MiniONE Balloon Button feed port.
  • Connect feeding bag tubing to the pump. Set flow rate. Unclamp tubes and begin feeding.
  • When feeding is complete, clamp both feed set tubing and feeding bag tubing, then disconnect feeding bag.
  • Flush feeding set with prescribed amount of water (5ml for children, 10-20ml for adults).
  • Disconnect feeding set and wash it with warm soapy water.

Bolus Feeding Using a Catheter Tip Syringe

  • Prime the tubing: Attach a water filled catheter tip syringe to the bolus feeding set and fill with water. Clamp the feeding set.
  • Connect feeding set to MiniONE Button feeding port.
  • Disconnect syringe from feeding set and remove syringe plunger. Reattach syringe without the plunger.
  • Slowly pour formula into syringe and unclamp feeding set. Keep syringe filled with formula to prevent air from entering the stomach. To adjust feeding flow rate, raise or lower the syringe.
  • When feeding is complete, flush the feeding set and button with the prescribed amount of water (5ml for children, 10-20ml for adults).
  • After flushing, disconnect feeding set and wash it with warm soapy water.

Attaching the Feed Set to the G-JET Jejunal Port:

  • Remove jejunal feeding port safety plug from the top of the G-JET Button, revealing the Glow Green color interlock.
  • Holding the button, as shown in Image: left, line up the black mark on the jejunal (Glow Green) feeding set adapter with the black mark on the G-JET Button.
  • Make sure the feeding set adapter is pushed in completely and gently turn no more than 3/4 clockwise to lock the adapter in place. When fully locked, the adapter will stop rotating.

Do NOT attempt to rotate the adapter past 3/4 turn. If the adapter does not rotate freely when first inserted into the feeding port, make sure the adapter is pushed in all the way and that there is nothing blocking the jejunal port.

Remove the feed set by rotating the connector COUNTER-CLOCKWISE until the black line of the feeding set aligns with the black line on the jejunal port. Remove the feeding set and cap the jejunal port with the attached feeding port safety plug.

Feeding with Jejunal (Glow Green) Feed Set

  • Attach the Jejunal feeding set by lining up the dark line on the feed set or venting set with the dark line on the Jejunal feeding port and rotate 3/4 clockwise to lock into place, until you meet resistance. Do not rotate any further as you will cause damage to the AMT G-Jet.
  • The feeding set need to be cleaned after each use by rinsing with mild soapy water and re-rinse thoroughly with water. After washing, allow them to air dry.
  • Feeding set can be used for up to 2 weeks providing they are adequately cleaned in between usage (follow directions as per local guidelines)
  • Continuous feeds into the Jejunum must be given via a pump, the tube must be flushed at least 3 times a day to prevent any blockage.
  • If feeds are being given, the tube must be flushed before and after feeds to prevent blocking.
  • The patient should ideally be positioned at a minimum of 30 degrees for feeds.

What is ENFit?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has created a new standard design for enteral connectors, termed the "ENFit Connector."

These new ENFit Connectors are intended to improve patient safety and to decrease the risk of medical device misconnections. This new connector has been designed to be incompatible with Luer adapters, which are commonly used in IV applications. The ENFit connector will look & secure very similar to a Luer threaded lock system, although the design is larger and thus, incompatible with Luers.

Why ENFit?

ENFit is a patient safety initiative, designed to ensure that feeding tube connectors are incompatible with the connectors for unrelated delivery systems such as trach tubes, IV lines, and catheters. Misconnections involving such medical devices may be relatively rare compared with the number of patients needing tubes or IVs, but such misconnections can have deadly consequences when they do occur.

ENFit is a global initiative that affects end users, manufacturers, and suppliers. The ENFitConnectors were developed as part of the Stay Connected initiative under the supervision of clinicians, manufacturers, and regulators.

What Does This Mean for You?

What is changing is how you connect your food source to the feed set, which in turn connects to an enteral feeding device. The straight or right angle connectors, which attach and lock into low-profile feeding devices, will remain the same. The distal end of feed sets, which connect directly into the device, are not regulated at this time.
